On Thursday, the Seychelles-based crypto exchange Bitget announced its decision to implement comprehensive Know Your Customer (KYC) policies across its platform. These new KYC requirements will come into effect on December 15, 2023.

Bitget Introduces Mandatory KYC Procedures

Bitget is updating its compliance with relevant financial regulations by introducing new KYC guidelines. The initial announcement of the KYC rollout occurred in August, outlining a multi-tiered system. The first level permits users to engage in Bitget's derivatives and copy trading, as well as withdraw up to $3 million daily.

In addition to the KYC implementation, Bitget is incentivizing the first 5,000 users who meet the KYC criteria before December 15. These early adopters will receive 100 tether (USDT). For VIP users of Bitget, rewards range from 200 to 500 USDT for adhering to the KYC deadline. Additionally, participants who complete a KYC questionnaire will be entered into a draw for an iPhone 15 Pro and 100 USDT.

"As a leading player in the cryptocurrency exchange landscape, Bitget is committed to not only offering state-of-the-art services but also ensuring a secure and compliant trading environment for our global community," said Jamie Elkaleh, the country manager of Bitget, in a statement sent to Bitcoin.com News. "The introduction of mandatory KYC requirements for all users is a decisive step towards enhancing user security and aligning with global financial regulations."

This development coincides with a period of intensified global regulatory scrutiny. In 2023, several crypto firms have faced enforcement actions due to non-compliance with KYC guidelines. Beginning on December 15, 2023, Bitget will require all users to submit their KYC details to access the platform's crypto trading services. As of December 14, data indicates that Bitget ranks as the fourth-largest centralized crypto derivatives platform in terms of open interest.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the value of a gold IRA

Many benefits come with a gold IRA. It's an investment vehicle that allows you to diversify your portfolio. You control how much money goes into each account and when it's withdrawn.

You also have the option to transfer funds from other retirement plans into a IRA. If you are planning to retire early, this makes it easy to transition.

The best part is that you don't need special skills to invest in gold IRAs. These IRAs are available at all banks and brokerage houses. Withdrawals are made automatically without having to worry about fees or penalties.

However, there are still some drawbacks. Gold is known for being volatile in the past. Understanding why you want to invest in gold is essential. Are you looking for safety or growth? Is it for security or long-term planning? Only by knowing the answer, you will be able to make an informed choice.

You might want to buy more gold if you intend to keep your gold IRA for a long time. A single ounce isn't enough to cover all of your needs. Depending on the purpose of your gold, you might need more than one ounce.

You don't have to buy a lot of gold if your goal is to sell it. Even a single ounce can suffice. However, you will not be able buy any other items with those funds.

What is the tax on gold in Roth IRAs?

The tax on an investment account is based on its current value, not what you originally paid. So if you invest $1,000 in a mutual fund or stock and then sell it later, any gains are subject to taxes.

But if you put the money into a traditional IRA or 401(k), there's no tax when you withdraw the money. Taxes are only charged on capital gains or dividends earned, which only apply to investments longer than one calendar year.

The rules that govern these accounts differ from one state to the next. Maryland's rules require that withdrawals be taken within 60 days after you turn 59 1/2. Massachusetts allows you to wait until April 1. New York offers a waiting period of up to 70 1/2 years. To avoid penalties, you should plan ahead and take distributions as soon as possible.

Is gold buying a good retirement option?

Although it may not look appealing at first, buying gold for investment is worth considering when you consider the global average gold consumption per year.

Physical bullion bars are the most popular way to invest in gold. However, there are many other ways to invest in gold. It's best to thoroughly research all options before you make a decision.

How much should precious metals be included in your portfolio?

To answer this question we need to first define precious metals. Precious elements are those elements which have a high price relative to other commodities. This makes them very valuable in terms of trading and investment. Gold is by far the most common precious metal traded today.

But, there are other types of precious metals available, including platinum and silver. The price for gold is subject to fluctuations, but stays relatively stable in times of economic turmoil. It is not affected by inflation or deflation.

As a general rule, the prices for all precious metals tend to increase with the overall market. That said, they do not always move in lockstep with each other. For instance, gold's price will rise when the economy is weak, while precious metals prices will fall. This is because investors expect lower rates of interest, which makes bonds less attractive investments.

Contrary to this, when the economy performs well, the opposite happens. Investors are more inclined to invest in safe assets, such as Treasury Bonds, and they will not demand precious metals. Since these are scarce, they become more expensive and decrease in value.

You must therefore diversify your investments in precious metals to reap the maximum profits. Because precious metals prices are subject to fluctuations, it is best to invest across multiple precious metal types, rather than focusing on one.

How much money should I put into my Roth IRA?

Roth IRAs let you save tax on retirement by allowing you to deposit your own money. These accounts cannot be withdrawn until you turn 59 1/2. You must adhere to certain rules if you are going to withdraw any of your contributions prior. First, you cannot touch your principal (the original amount deposited). This means that no matter how much you contribute, you can never take out more than what was initially contributed to this account. If you are able to take out more that what you have initially contributed, you must pay taxes.

You cannot withhold your earnings from income taxes. You will pay income taxes when you withdraw your earnings. For example, let's say that you contribute $5,000 to your Roth IRA every year. Let's also say that you earn $10,000 per annum after contributing. Federal income taxes would apply to the earnings. You would be responsible for $3500 This leaves you with $6,500 remaining. This is the maximum amount you can withdraw because you are limited to what you initially contributed.

Therefore, even if you take $4,000 out of your earnings you still owe taxes on $1,500. You'd also lose half the earnings that you took out, as they would be subject to a second 50% tax (half of 40%). Even though you had $7,000 in your Roth IRA account, you only received $4,000.

There are two types if Roth IRAs, Roth and Traditional. Traditional IRAs allow for pre-tax deductions from your taxable earnings. When you retire, you can use your traditional IRA to withdraw your contribution balance plus interest. There is no limit on how much you can withdraw from a traditional IRA.

Roth IRAs do not allow you to deduct your contributions. Once you are retired, however, you may withdraw all of your contributions plus accrued interest. There is no minimum withdrawal limit, unlike traditional IRAs. It doesn't matter if you are 70 1/2 or older before you withdraw your contribution.

Two types of gold coins are available today: the legal tender type and the bullion type. Legal tender coins are minted for circulation in a country and usually include denominations like $1, $5, $10, etc.

Bullion coins are minted for investment purposes only, and their values increase over time due to inflation.

A private seller will usually return less money than a coin shop and eBay. However, this option is often a great choice when investing in gold since it gives you more control over the item's price.

Another option for buying gold is to invest in physical gold. It is easier to store physical gold than paper certificates. But, you still have to take care of it. To ensure that your physical gold remains safe, you need to secure it in an impenetrable container such as a vault or safety deposit box.
